About Jim Baker
Jim grew up in Wiltshire but spent 30 years working in Central Africa and South East Asia. The knowledge gained in the countries he has lived in and the different cultures he has experienced have made him aware of what is so very special about his own country and particularly the area in which he lives.
Jim trained as a Blue Badge Guide in Bath and in addition to his own county he specialises in Bath, Bristol, the Cotswold and Mendip Hills and the adjoining counties of Dorset, Somerset and Hampshire which constitute part of the Historic Region of Wessex.
He is one of a small group of regional guides qualified to guide Windsor Castle and its immediate environs.
Jim is a keen walker having completed the Ridgeway long distance path. He lectures and organises walking tours at Urchfont Manor College, Wiltshire’s adult residential education centre and is a volunteer guide for the National Trust Landscape Walks at Stonehenge.
Jim has been active in his local community and served as a Parish Councillor
for seven years.
